David Hancock believes Indigenous people and their activities are Australia’s greatest asset.

David Hancock has photographed and written about Indigenous issues since his arrival in the Top End more than 30 years ago. Australian and international publications have printed hundreds of his stories that highlight positive aspects of Aboriginal society.

He regularly works on Aboriginal land and in Indigenous communities. All of his six books examine aspects of Indigenous Australia, while two – Walkabout Chefs and Kuwardewardde, the Stone Country – are primarily about Indigenous society and bush food.

David Hancock has written extensively about Indigenous ranger groups across northern Australia and works closely with many traditional owners in Arnhem Land. Stories and photographs about their activities have appeared in the Australian Geographic journal and RM Williams’ Outback magazine.

David Hancock supplies images to Indigenous corporations and groups for management and funding documents, as well as web sites and annual reports.

SkyScans photo library contains one of the most comprehensive collections of contemporary Indigenous activities while archival photographs cover issues such as Land Rights, Sea Rights, the Barunga Statement, the creation of Nitmiluk national park, Jabiluka, mandatory sentencing and the Intervention.

Photographs of festivals, special ceremonies and art also comprise spectacular and colourful images.
